VxComm98.exe : for Windows 95/OSR2, 98/SE, ME Windows 95 / OSR2 v4.00.950 / v4.00.950 B Windows 98 / SE v4.10.1998 / v4.10.2222 A Windows ME v4.90.3000 VxCommNT.exe : for Windows NT 4.0 VxComm2K.exe : for Windows 2000/XP B. Introduction The VxComm Driver is designed for 7188E/8000E series Internet / Ethernet controllers. It creates virtual COM port(s) under Microsoft Windows 95/OSR2, 98/SE, ME, NT4, 2K/XP platform and maps them to the Ethernet port of 7188E/8000E. Commands and data sending to the virtual COM port(s) will be redirected to the 7188E/8000E's COM port(s). And the recieved data from 7188E/8000E's COM port(s) will also be edirected to PC's virtual COM port(s). The user's RS-232 client programs need only to change to the different COM port to get the access of serial devices that are allocated in the Internet or Ethernet network via the I-7188E/8000E. The VxComm Utility is the configuration program for the VxComm Driver. Users can use the utility program to assign the IP address of 7188E/8000E, and assign it's COM port number on the PC. The max. COM port number is up to COM256 on Windows 9x/ME/NT4/2K/XP. C. Installation C-1. Windows 95 v4.00.950 1. Install "MS Internet Explorer 3.01" first.(MSIE301.exe or newer version) 2. Restart your computer. 3. Install "VxComm Driver 98". (VxComm98.exe) 5. Run "VxComm Utility" to configure the VxComm Driver. 6. Restart your computer. C-2. Windows 95 OSR2 v4.00.950B 1. Install "VxComm Driver 98". (VxComm98.exe) 3. Run "VxComm Utility" to configure the VxComm Driver. 4. Restart your computer. 5. Windows 95 OSR2 may prompt a message box as follows for your first time configuration. Title : Insert Disk Text : Please insert the disk labeled 'ICPDAS VxComm Driver Disk', and then click OK. 6. Click the "OK" button. 7. It then pops up the following dialog box. Title : New Hardware Found Text : The file 'ICDVXCOM.vxd' on ICPDAS VxComm Driver Disk could not be found. Insert ICPDAS VxComm Driver Disk into the drive selected below, and click OK. 8. Click the "Browse..." button. 9. The "Open" dialog box pops up. 10. Select the "C:\Progra~1\7188E\VxComm98" folder (for example: the default installed folder. You should depend on your installation to indicate the correct folder .) 11. Click the "OK" button on the "Open" dialog box. 12. Click the "OK" button on the "New Hardware Found" dialog box. C-3. Windows 98/SE, ME 1. Install "VxComm Driver 98". (VxComm98.exe) 2. Run "VxComm Utility" to configure the VxComm Driver. 3. Restart your computer. C-4. Windows NT 4.0 1. Install "VxComm Driver NT". (VxCommNT.exe) 2. Restart your computer. 3. "VxComm Utility" will be automatically launched after your computer is rebooted. 4. Use it to configure the VxComm Driver. C-5. Windows 2000/XP 1. Install "VxComm Driver 2K". (VxComm2K.exe) 2. Restart your computer. 3. "VxComm Utility" will be automatically launched after your computer is rebooted. 4. Use it to configure the VxComm Driver. D.
